Herriman High

Guidance Services

Counseling and guidance services are available to all students. These services include assistance with educational planning, interpretation of test scores, occupational information, career information, college admission and scholarship information, study skills and/or help with home, school or other concerns. Students wishing to visit a counselor should make an appointment with the counseling secretary or a counselor. A hall pass or teacher note is required for counselor time during a class period.

Scholarships

Many students are eligible for scholarships to places of higher education. It is our goal to make every possible effort to inform our future graduates of the many opportunities awaiting them. Please check the counseling scholarship blog or see your guidance counselor for more information.

Awards

Mustang Medallion

The purpose of the Mustang Medallion is to honor those well-rounded students who have participated in a variety of activities and made positive contributions to the school while attending Herriman High School.  The focus is to reward participation and not necessarily achievement.  Students may apply during their senior year.  It is the student’s responsibility to pick up an application for the Mustang Medallion from the Counseling Center and to return the completed application to the Counseling Center by the deadline shown on the application.

Enhanced Diplomas

The purpose of the Enhanced Diploma program is to encourage and challenge students, as well as reward them for their many accomplishments while attending Herriman High School. Students who earn one or more enhanced diplomas wear colored cords at graduation, and are recognized at a special awards banquet. There are six categories of enhancement: academic merit, activity achievement, departmental recognition, outstanding citizenship, senior project, and service. Applications and descriptions of the various enhanced diplomas are available from the counseling center.

Academic Letter

Students who maintain a GPA of 3.7 or higher for any three of the four quarters of any one school year are eligible for the academic letter. Juniors and sophomores must have completed four out of eight classes from the core areas (English, Math, Science, Social Studies). Seniors must have completed three out of eight classes from these same areas. This award may be earned each year a student attends Herriman High School. Applications are available from the counseling center.
